Vinnies CEO SleepoutPosted 22nd June 2015 by Clare O'Neil in News | 0 Comment
Last week I participated in the CEO Sleepout, raising money to help Vinnies in the important work they do tackling homelessness in Australia. The event raised almost a million dollars in Melbourne alone.
One of the disturbing facts is that most Australians experiencing homelessness are women and children, many escaping domestic violence. One in six homeless Victorians are children under the age of 12.
I wrote a bit about this aspect of the problem for Mamamia recently which you can read by clicking here.
Thank you so much to those who gave up hard-earned money to support this cause. You did a wonderful thing, and together we raised almost $4500. We are still a few hundred dollars off our fundraising goal – so if any readers can spare a few bucks, Vinnies is a terrific cause to support.
