Moorabbin Airport SubmissonPosted 10th July 2015 by Clare O'Neil in News | 2 Comments
One of the biggest local issues facing our community in Hotham is the Moorabbin Airport. This in one of the busiest airports in terms of flight movements in Australia, with more or less constant pressures to convert public land to industrial and retail use. The airport is situated right in the heart of residential Melbourne, just next door to Dingley Village.
Moorabbin Airport is in the process of creating a new Master Plan, that will guide development in the decade to come. The draft plan proposes significant increases to flight movements, and to industrial and retail development on the site.
I made a submission to the draft Master Plan on behalf of Hotham residents. You can find my submission here:

To ensure I understood the views of the community, I surveyed households across the affected area. I ran a mobile office in Dingley, and worked with the Dingley Village Community Association.
My next steps are to discuss this matter with Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss, who has power to approve the master plan, and raise this matter in Parliament. I continue to work closely with my good friend, @Mark Dreyfus MP, on this matter.
Moorabbin Airport is earmarked as public land, for public use, and I will continue to fight on behalf of the community to keep it that way.
