ANZAC Commemorations in Hotham

Ahead of the ANZAC Centenary this year, I visited the RSL’s in Hotham and discussed with them their plans to commemorate the 100th Centenary of ANZAC.

I caught up with veterans from the Hotham community, and published their recollections in my community newsletter. It was an honour to speak to these veterans and to hear their stories about what ANZAC means to them in their lives.

To read their stories, please visit my Facebook page here.

I also visited the Cheltenham-Moorabbin RSL to inspect the development of the ANZAC Contemplative Gardens at Kingston Heath Reserve.

Over the past year, I have worked closely with many local community groups to get ANZAC grants like this one approved.

The $100,000 allocated to the Kingston City Council for the restoration of these Contemplative Gardens will see the development of a new honour wall, larger open spaces and new seating.

ANZAC Day is a special day for all Australians, and I hope you all had an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices our brave servicemen and women have made over the last hundred years.
